Welcome Back!
Media Program
2011- 2012
Welcome Back to the Media Center!
We are very excited to start the new school year in the media center. All students will visit the media center the second week of school for an orientation and checkout. Until your class comes for your first visit, there will be no checkouts while we enter students into the system.
Kindergartners and first graders will check out one book each time they visit with their classes. Students in second through fifth grades will be allowed to check out two items from the media center. In third through fifth, one of those items may be a magazine, which is due back the next day. Books are due in two weeks, but they may be renewed one time. Kindergarten, first, second and third grade classes will be allowed to sign up every other week for the media center time. Fourth and fifth grade will be once a month. There will be open time frames for additional lessons for classes if a collaborative lesson is planned with the media specialist.
Library skills will be taught to all students K-5 when they come in the media center with their classes. It's our job to see that students become effective users of ideas and information. We will be happy to work with students to help them find appropriate reading materials and resources for research projects. Just ask! We're here to help, and we look forward to a fun and exciting year at Lake Forest Elementary.
