3rd Grade Book Club News...

We just complete our first book, The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden. During our club meetings, we discussed each week the previous chapters read by the students. We completed comprehension questions online, orally, and written when working with a partner. The students were offered Chinese Chicken Fried Rice as a snack when we read about Mario visiting a Chinese restaurant in China Town in New York. We will have the opportunity to watch the video of The Cricket in Times Square as a summary of the book. The students will complete one final project activity which will be displayed in the media center.
We are real excited to be starting our new novel, The Littles by John Peterson.

News..Third Grade Book Club

We will be starting a third grade book club in January 2011. First, we will be reading The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden. The story takes place in New York City where a cricket named Chester is found by a little boy named Mario. Mario keeps Chester as his pet, but is only allowed to keep him in the family's newsstand by the subway.

This is a great story to start our book club. We will be creating a group project at the end of each book completed. Look for displays in the Media Center.
