What is Digital Literacy?
Digital Literacy
Digital Literacy includes learning how to use technology's tools. The list of tools is never ending. Educators as well as students must thoughtfully determine which tools are essential to their digital literacy tool kit. Tool kit's vary from one educator to another as they do from one student to another. Once you have mastered a particular tool, move on to another so you can increase your digital power.
Students are wired to learn digitally. They come to us with handhelds practically attached to their limbs. Our obligation is to teach them to become responsible digital citizens as well as discerning users of everything the internet has to offer.

Summer Hours and Reading Challenge
Summer Reading Challenge & Media Center Summer Hours
Two great things are happening at Lake Forest Media Center this summer! First, we will be open from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM on the following Tuesdays; May 28, June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23. Just have an adult come with you to the media center and you are welcome to check out three to five books every other Tuesday.
The next BIG news is…we will offer a Summer Reading Challenge to all our students. We are challenging you to read ten age appropriate books over the summer to “Stop the Summer Slide”. Just stop by the media center and pick up a Summer Reading Log to record your book titles and dates. Just return the Summer Reading Log to Ms. Zinsenheim or Ms. Crosby when you return to school on August 12, 2013. If you meet the Summer Reading Challenge, your name and picture will be on the Media Center bulletin board the first month of school with a BIG congratulations on keeping up with your summer reading.
